The Tool Designer Intern will be responsible for designing tooling used across Mercury’s various manufacturing plants and processes, working closely with engineering and operations teams.

Responsibilities

Design and detail fixtures and tooling for use on manual machines, machining centers, assembly lines, paint lines, and layout operations
Review design requirements with manufacturing engineers, machine operators, and shop supervision
Communicate with outside tooling vendors

Qualification

3D modeling softwareTool DesignMechanical DesignTool making processesMachining processesHand tools usageDetailing fixtures

Required

Pursuing an Associate Degree in Tool Design, Drafting or Mechanical Design
Proficiency in 3D modeling software (Inventor, SolidWorks, Creo, etc.)
Basic use and understanding of hand tools for 3D printer maintenance
Ability to design and detail fixtures that are clear and accurate
Permanent US Work Authorization required

Preferred

Basic understanding of tool making processes
Knowledge in machining processes
