Responsibilities
Monitor and manage network infrastructure including routers, switches, firewalls, and load balancers to ensure optimal performance and security
Configure and support VPNs, IPsec tunnels, DNS, DHCP, LDAP, and Active Directory services to facilitate secure remote access and authentication
Implement and maintain network security protocols such as firewall policies, IDS/IPS systems, Cisco ISE, PKI certificates, SSL/TLS encryption, and network segmentation strategies
Support routing protocols including BGP, OSPF, EIGRP, MPLS, and EIGRP to ensure efficient data flow across WANs and LANs
Perform system administration tasks on operating systems such as Windows Server, Linux distributions (Debian, CentOS, Ubuntu), Solaris, and macOS
Utilise automation tools like Ansible and PowerShell scripts for deployment and configuration management
Conduct network installation projects involving hardware setup and software configuration for Cisco routers/switches/juniper devices or virtualised environments such as VMware vSphere or Citrix
Monitor network health using tools like SolarWinds, PRTG Network Monitor, Splunk, or SolarWinds to identify issues proactively
Collaborate with cross-functional teams on DevOps initiatives involving cloud platforms such as AWS or Azure; implement high availability solutions and disaster recovery plans
Troubleshoot connectivity issues related to TCP/IP protocols, DNS resolution failures, SSL/TLS encryption errors or authentication problems involving LDAP or SSO systems
Document network configurations and procedures adhering to ITIL standards; participate in SDLC processes for system upgrades or new deployments
Qualification
Required
Extensive knowledge of computer networking concepts including TCP/IP stack, routing protocols (BGP, OSPF, EIGRP), VLANs, QoS policies and Ethernet switching
Proficiency with network security measures such as firewalls (Cisco ASA), IDS/IPS systems (Snort), VPN technologies (IPsec), SSL certificates and encryption standards
Hands-on experience with Cisco networking hardware (routers/switches), Juniper devices or similar equipment
Strong understanding of operating systems including Windows Server environments as well as Linux distributions like Debian, CentOS or Ubuntu
Ability to script using Bash (Unix shell), PowerShell or Python for automation tasks
Experience managing cloud services such as AWS or Azure
Skilled in network monitoring tools such as SolarWinds NPM/PRTG or Splunk for real-time analysis and troubleshooting
Knowledge of network protocols including DHCP, DNS, LDAP/Active Directory integration
Understanding of DevOps practices including CI/CD pipelines
Preferred
Familiarity with SDN architectures is advantageous
Experience with UNIX/Solaris is desirable
Knowledge of virtualization platforms like VMware vSphere or Citrix XenDesktop is preferred
Familiarity with openSUSE Linux distributions or other open-source tools is beneficial
