Traveling Superintendent Data Centers

Build People is seeking a Traveling Superintendent to lead field operations for data center projects while traveling to various sites. The role involves coordinating with various stakeholders, overseeing safety and compliance, and mentoring junior team members to ensure project success across multiple locations.

Staffing & Recruiting

Responsibilities

Coordinate with owners, architects, engineers, inspectors, and subcontractors
Schedule and direct tradespeople, professionals, and laborers; deliver clear instructions via project staff
Conduct preconstruction meetings with subcontractors for each phase
Plan manpower, lead toolbox talks, and manage site logistics/equipment (cranes, trailers, etc.)
Oversee safety, quality, risk, and compliance; enforce OSHA standards and site-specific requirements
Develop scopes of work, perform constructability reviews, and manage weekly trade activities
Utilize contract documents, specs, drawings; maintain site logistics plan
Evaluate progress vs. plan, develop recovery schedules, and track milestones
Lead closeout, punch lists, and owner meetings
Participate in CPM scheduling (Primavera P6), short-term look-aheads, and quantity takeoffs/buyout reviews
Refuse unsafe work, report incidents/hazards, and promote a mature safety culture

Required

Minimum 6+ years industry experience; managed scopes >$100M
Proven track record as a traveling superintendent on data center/mission-critical projects
Strong planning/scheduling, business/financial acumen
Proficient in MS Office (Word/Excel), blueprints/specs, Primavera P6
Proven leadership, communication, and mentoring skills
Willingness to travel extensively (80–100%) and work on rotation schedules

Preferred

Bachelor's degree preferred (Construction Management, Engineering, or related); relevant experience may substitute
Certifications: Quality 201, Building Science 201, CQM-C, Pull-Planning, NCCER, Unit Tracking, Estimate Review
