Responsibilities
Assists customers by issuing library cards, checking materials in & out, placing holds, & locating materials using an automated library system
Assists patrons on-site or by telephone with basic informational & directional requests
Assists customers in the use of library catalogs, computers, copiers, printers, & other equipment throughout the library
Handles fines, fees, & payments
Interprets & communicates general library policies & procedures to patrons
Operates equipment such as telephones, computers, copiers, faxes, etc
Searches for needed materials & shelves accurately according to prescribed location
Performs opening & closing procedures
Performs other associated duties as required or assigned
Performs courier service to Indian Land & Kershaw Branches
Qualification
Required
High School graduate, plus two years of relevant work experience
Ability to perform duties of job
Familiarity with general PC operations in Windows environment
Excellent reading & verbal ability
Knowledge of library collections & services or willingness to learn
Aptitude for detailed work
Excellent customer service skills
Good communication skills with both children & adults
Preferred
Bachelor's degree
