Responsibilities

Performing entry-level engineering tasks in areas such as structural line design, substation design, system protection, and planning for transmission and distribution systems
Drafting specifications, conducting field inspections, analyzing system operations, and assisting with regulatory compliance under the guidance of senior engineers
Supporting operations through technical inspections, outage coordination, basic analysis, and the preparation of engineering documents and estimates
Learning software tools, applying industry codes and standards, and ensuring procedures align with NERC Reliability Standards
Performing fundamental engineering tasks in transmission and distribution, including design, analysis, cost estimating, and project management
Supporting field construction, troubleshooting issues, and collaborating with operations staff to ensure safe and reliable system performance
Preparing technical specifications, cost estimates, feasibility studies, and providing field support through inspections, troubleshooting, and design modifications
Independently performing and managing advanced engineering design, analysis, and project work for transmission and distribution systems, with leadership responsibilities in areas such as system protection, structural design, and substation development
Leading complex engineering design, analysis, and project management for transmission and distribution systems, often solving obscure or indeterminate problems and guiding multi-disciplinary teams

Required

Bachelor's degree (B. S., B. A.) in Electrical Engineering or Electrical Engineering Technology; or equivalent combination of education and experience
EI (Engineering Intern) or EIT (Engineer in Training) achieved by passing the FE (Fundamentals of Engineering) exam, preferred for Electrical Engineer I, II, III
Bachelor's degree (B.S., B.A.) in Engineering; or the equivalent combination of education and experience for Senior I, II
PE in the State of Washington strongly preferred for Senior I, II
Entry Level. No experience required for Electrical Engineer I. Candidates with work experience in transmission and distribution systems, with an electric utility or similar applications are preferred
2+ years' experience performing fundamental transmission or distribution electrical engineering of increasing complexity for Electrical Engineer II
4+ years' experience performing transmission or distribution electrical engineering of increasing complexity for Electrical Engineer III
6+ years' experience performing transmission or distribution electrical engineering of increasing complexity for Senior I
8+ years' experience performing transmission or distribution electrical engineering of increasing complexity for Senior II
Demonstrates a progressive understanding of electrical engineering principles, design practices, and tools
Uses logic and reasoning to analyze, troubleshoot, and resolve engineering problems of varying complexity
Applies knowledge of construction practices, project management, and quality control to support and lead design and construction activities
Communicates clearly in writing and speech with technical and non-technical audiences
Maintains strong familiarity with NERC/WECC reliability standards and applies appropriate industry codes across projects
Proficient with engineering and office software including Microsoft Suite, Primavera, Maximo, and PeopleSoft
A valid driver's license is required for this position (verified upon hire). A valid Washington State driver's license is required within 30 days of employment

Preferred

Candidates with work experience in transmission and distribution systems, with an electric utility or similar applications are preferred for Electrical Engineer I
EI (Engineering Intern) or EIT (Engineer in Training) achieved by passing the FE (Fundamentals of Engineering) exam, preferred for Electrical Engineer I, II, III
PE in the State of Washington strongly preferred for Senior I, II
