Electrical Trades Instructor

The Electrical Trades Instructor is responsible for providing subject matter instruction to students in a classroom or lab setting, ensuring effective teaching in electrical theory and applications while maintaining compliance with industry standards.

Responsibilities

Teach electrical courses in both classroom and lab settings, fostering an inclusive and interactive learning environment
Instruct students on the proper and safe use of tools, materials, and equipment, emphasizing OSHA standards and jobsite safety procedures
Maintain lesson plans, instructional materials, and lab activities in collaboration with program leadership and fellow instructors
Ensure the classroom and lab remain organized, clean, and fully equipped, reporting any maintenance or supply needs to the appropriate personnel
Monitor and document student attendance, academic progress, and performance in accordance with institutional guidelines
Enter grades, evaluations, and other required documentation into school systems accurately and on time
Support and encourage students to succeed through proactive engagement, mentoring, and the implementation of retention strategies
Participate in required training, in-service sessions, and staff meetings to remain current in instructional methods and industry trends
Stay informed of industry advancements and maintain professional certifications as required
Perform other duties and special projects as assigned by the Program Coordinator or Campus Leadership

Required

High School Diploma or GED
Minimum of four (4) years of hands-on experience in the electrical trade OR three (3) years of teaching experience in electrical or related programs
Strong understanding of electrical tools, systems, codes, and safety practices
Effective verbal and written communication skills, with a focus on student engagement and instructional clarity
Strong computer skills, including proficiency in MS Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams)
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, performance-driven environment
Highly organized, dependable, and able to manage multiple tasks and deadlines
Positive and professional attitude, with a commitment to student success

Preferred

National Center for Construction Education and Research (The NCCER ICTP Certification is required before instructors start teaching classes. Company will pay for certification.)
OSHA 30-hour safety certification within 6 months of hire date
CPR certification current or within 3 months of hire date
Electrical Journeyman or Master License preferred
