Optomi is seeking a Senior IP Engineer to design, implement, and maintain complex IP networks in a live production environment. This role requires advanced troubleshooting and operational expertise across multiple network layers and technologies.

Responsibilities

Design, configure, and implement IP network solutions from scratch

Perform break-fix troubleshooting and act as the escalation point for complex issues

Prepare and execute Methods of Procedure (MOPs) for maintenance windows

Support and prepare for network migrations and circuit turn-ups

Maintain, optimize, and document inherited network environments

Ensure uptime and stability across thousands of live network connections

Collaborate cross-functionally to drive operational excellence and network resilience

Qualification

BGPOSPFVRF DesignJuniper routersCisco routersExpert troubleshootingReverse TelnetLegacy protocolsCCIE certificationNetworking fundamentals

Required

Must be able to design BGP, not just implement others' designs

Extensive experience in live production environments with OSPF

Deep understanding of routing segmentation and design principles for VRF Design

Experience with Juniper routers

Experience with Cisco routers (including older legacy models, 20+ years old)

Proven ability to build configurations from scratch (no pre-built templates)

Expert troubleshooting across Layer 2 (Ethernet, ATM frame, TDM circuits)

Reverse Telnet for Async connections

Familiarity with legacy protocols such as X.25 and XOT

Ability to adapt to and maintain aging hardware components

Preferred

Ethernet networks using Nokia 7750 or Cisco NCS platforms

CCIE certification

AT&T lab experience or background in testing environments

Experience with Cisco async management cards

Strong networking fundamentals and lab-to-production transition knowledge
