Seasonal Budget Technician

Responsibilities

Assists in preparation and maintenance of an annual budget. Illustrative tasks include collecting and providing costs, work force data, procurement requirements, and other related information, extracting from a variety of sources
Adjusts, revises and updates current year operating budget, as required, due to various changes made in allotments or accounts. Coordinates the current fiscal year budget by checking format and accuracy of information, consolidating project work plans into appropriate accounting categories, aiding in work scheduling, and establishing controls to maintain continuing cost accounting information. Determines and assigns appropriate account information to major projects/activities
Makes financial reviews throughout the fiscal year, ensuring that allocations are not exceeded and that surpluses or shortages are identified. Advises appropriate program managers regarding the status
Tracks obligations, expenditures, and accounts receivables, and reconciles in-house records with official accounting office reports. Recognizes errors which appear, researches the source of the errors, and initiates adjustment documents to correct erroneous entries. Keeps supervisor informed of existing or potential problem areas
Prepares expenditure transfers and other adjustment vouchers to effect changes to information entered into the official accounting system (e.g., account numbers, authorized limits, or amounts)

Appointment subject to background investigation and favorable adjudication
Meet Selective Service Registration Act requirement for males
Selectee will be required to participate in the Direct Deposit Electronics Funds Transfer Program
You may be required to operate a government (or private) motor vehicle as part of your official duties
You must possess a valid State issued driver's license that is current and has not been revoked, suspended, canceled, or otherwise disqualified
You may be required to work overtime work
To qualify for this position at the GS-0561-05 grade level, you must possess at least one of the following minimum qualifications by close of the announcement:
EXPERIENCE: At least one full year of specialized experience comparable in scope and responsibility to the GS-0561-04 grade level in the Federal service
EDUCATION: Successful completion of at least four years of education above high school (120 semester hour or 180 quarter hours) leading to a bachelor's degree with courses related to the occupation
Successful completion of a combination of education and experience as described above
You must submit a copy of your transcripts and if selected, you will need to submit your Official transcripts by EOD

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs
Current surplus and current or former displaced Federal individuals who have special priority selection rights under the Agency Career Transition Assistance Program (CTAP) or the Interagency Career Transition Assistance Program (ICTAP) must be well qualified for the position to receive consideration for special priority selection
Federal employees seeking CTAP/ICTAP eligibility must submit proof that they meet the requirements of 5 CFR 330.605(2) for CTAP and 5 CFR 330.704 for ICTAP
If you are selected for Federal employment, you will be required to fill out a Declaration of Federal Employment, OF-306, prior to being appointed to determine your suitability for Federal employment
You must submit a legible copy of transcripts from an accredited institution with your name, school name, credit hours, course level, major(s), and grade-point average or class ranking
If you are using education completed in foreign colleges or universities to meet qualification requirements, you must show that your education credentials have been evaluated by a private organization
