Responsibilities
Prepare comprehensive and accurate mechanical and plumbing estimates for large commercial construction projects
Review and analyze drawings, specifications, addenda, and design documents to develop complete scope coverage
Perform detailed material take-offs, equipment pricing, labor analysis, and value engineering evaluations
Establish and maintain strong relationships with vendors and subcontractors to secure competitive pricing
Analyze design alternatives, identify cost-saving opportunities, assess constructability, and evaluate project risks
Collaborate with engineers and project teams during pre-bid meetings, proposal development, and project turnover
Develop bid summaries, proposals, and supporting documentation for internal leadership and client presentations
Stay current with industry trends, market conditions, applicable codes, and emerging HVAC and plumbing technologies
Qualification
Required
Minimum of 10 years of experience as a Mechanical and/or Plumbing Estimator in commercial construction
In-depth knowledge of HVAC, piping, plumbing systems, materials, and installation practices
Demonstrated experience estimating commercial projects valued between $5M and $100M+
Proficiency with estimating software such as Trimble/AutoBid, QuoteSoft, Bluebeam, or similar platforms
Strong ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and BIM models
Excellent communication, negotiation, and organizational skills
Strong analytical skills with the ability to manage multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment
Preferred
Experience working on design-build projects
Familiarity with BIM coordination and 3D modeling tools
Mechanical or plumbing field experience, including installation or project management
Relevant technical degree or trade education
