Civil Engineer 2 / Track Design Lead
Metra Commuter Rail is one of the largest and most complex commuter rail systems in North America, providing safe and reliable commuter service. The Civil Engineer 2 / Track Design Lead will oversee the production of design documents for rail infrastructure projects and ensure compliance with building codes and design criteria.

Responsibilities
Evaluate and provide recommendations concerning consultant construction designs and specifications on construction projects to ensure feasibility and compliance with Metra's guidelines, funding requirements, and industry standards
Collaborate with management to resolve technical developments involving design plans, scheduling conflicts, and staffing that involve other Metra departments or outside agencies
Ensure all documentation confirming projects meet quality control and quality assurance guidelines as set forth in the Consultant Design Quality Management Plan is complete
Incumbents work under both inside and outside environmental conditions under prevailing conditions of heat, cold, rain, and snow
Employees may perform other related duties as assigned to meet the ongoing needs of the organization
Qualification
Required
8 years or more of required experience in civil engineering or related field
Experience in overseeing the production of design documents for rail infrastructure projects
Knowledge of applicable building codes and design criteria for rail infrastructure projects
Ability to evaluate and provide recommendations concerning consultant construction designs and specifications
Experience in collaborating with management to resolve technical developments involving design plans and scheduling conflicts
Knowledge of quality control and quality assurance guidelines as set forth in the Consultant Design Quality Management Plan
