Responsibilities
Perform nondestructive examinations using approved methods such as UT, RT, MT, PT, VT, and other applicable techniques
Interpret NDT results to identify defects, discontinuities, and non-conformances in materials, welds, and structures
Ensure inspections comply with industry codes and standards (ASME, API, AWS, ASTM, ISO, company specifications)
Review and verify welding procedures, welder qualifications, and inspection plans
Support quality assurance and quality control (QA/QC) activities during construction, outages, and maintenance work
Prepare clear, accurate inspection reports, records, and documentation for internal stakeholders and regulatory audits
Coordinate with engineering, construction, operations, and contractors to resolve quality issues and corrective actions
Conduct field inspections at energy facilities including power generation plants, substations, pipelines, wind, and solar sites
Participate in root cause analysis, corrective action planning, and continuous improvement initiatives
Ensure adherence to safety policies, environmental regulations, and site-specific requirements
Provide technical guidance and mentoring to junior inspectors or technicians as needed
Support project schedules by performing inspections efficiently while maintaining quality and compliance
Qualification
Required
High school diploma or GED required; technical certification or associate degree preferred
Minimum of 5–8 years of hands-on NDT and quality inspection experience in energy, utilities, oil & gas, or industrial environments
Current Level II or Level III NDT certification(s) per ASNT, ISO, or equivalent (UT, MT, PT, RT, VT as applicable)
Strong knowledge of welding inspection, materials testing, and fabrication standards
Experience working in outdoor and industrial field environments
Ability to travel to multiple job sites and work extended hours as required
Proficient in inspection documentation, reporting tools, and basic computer applications
Valid driver's license and ability to pass background, drug, and site access requirements
Preferred
API certifications (API 570, 653, or 510)
CWI (Certified Welding Inspector) certification
Experience with renewable energy assets (wind, solar, battery storage)
Familiarity with utility-scale construction, pipelines, or rotating equipment
Level III certification or prior leadership/oversight experience
Experience supporting audits and regulatory inspections
