Mechanical Engineer – Mid Level (Hybrid)
Barr Engineering Co. is seeking a mechanical engineer to join their team in a hybrid role. The successful candidate will support the Engineering and Design business unit, working with multidisciplinary project teams to serve industrial clients in various sectors, and will be responsible for developing engineering calculations, system specifications, and guiding project execution.

Responsibilities
Technical knowledge: oil and gas pipeline system and facilities design; natural gas meter stations, compressor stations, gas processing and dehydration systems, interconnect valve sites, launcher/receiver facilities; renewable natural gas plant design; terminal liquid bulk storage tanks, pump stations, piping systems, provers, LACT units, and pipeline facilities; natural gas liquids processing, refinery process equipment installation and mechanical layout design; simple-cycle plant design; design of machinery and repairs to large mechanical equipment; and retrofit of mechanical systems for plant expansions or improvements
Project management: planning, coordinating, and executing projects. Help ensure project milestones are met and provide regular updates to team members and clients
Field presence: site investigation and construction observation as needed. Serve as lead mechanical engineer or project manager for large capital projects within industries
Qualification
Required
bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering from an accredited university
5+ years or relevant experience
oil and gas industry engineering practices, including 49 CFR Parts 192 and 195, ASME codes, and API standards
willingness and ability to travel
familiarity with AutoCAD, Microsoft Office suite, process flow simulation and hydraulic modeling software, and pipe stress analysis software
possession of a current, valid driver's license and acceptable driving record
must be legally authorized to work in the United States without the need for sponsorship by Barr, now or in the future
Preferred
Professional Engineer (PE) certification strongly preferred or ability to obtain
