Responsibilities
Engineering Design: Set engineering design strategy for yourself or a limited number of peers, cutting through ambiguity, and pre-empt complicating factors ahead of time
System Design & Development: Design, develop, test, deploy, and maintain large-scale, distributed software systems including: asynchronous pipelines, database systems, RPC handlers in collaboration with frontend engineers and backend engineers, in a privacy and security conscious ecosystem
Navigate Ambiguity: Investigate and build software in areas with limited expertise and make an immediate impact
Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner directly with business partners, product managers, designers, and program managers to design, implement and launch new features
Incident Response & On-Call: Participate in an on-call rotation to address urgent production issues, troubleshoot complex problems, and implement long-term solutions
Team Culture: Contribute to a team culture of support, engagement and quality, ensuring Wing can scale as a business
Qualification
Required
8+ years of experience designing and developing backend software
A Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a similar degree (or equivalent experience)
Excellent written and verbal skills and experience working in a collaborative team
Ability to identify and independently solve challenging problems. Demonstrates high accountability and ownership over the implemented solutions
Experience developing backend systems involving database schema design, and synchronous/asynchronous systems
Proficiency in C++, or ability to quickly pick up C++ with experience in similar languages like Java, or C
