AI & Autonomous Driving Intern
Isuzu Technical Center of America (ITCA) is seeking a highly motivated AI & Autonomous Intern to support their advanced engineering team in developing and integrating an autonomous logistics hub for Level 4 autonomous driving. The intern will contribute to algorithm development, system integration, and simulation environment construction, working closely with internal engineering teams and external collaborators.

Responsibilities
Designs and implements core algorithms for scheduling, task assignment and multi-agent trajectory planning. Develops AI-enabled optimization and decision-making modules that coordinate multiple autonomous vehicles within the logistics hub. Conducts performance analysis using simulation data and identify opportunities for algorithm improvement
Develops and maintains a digital-twin simulation environment of the autonomous logistics hub. Creates and configures assets, environments, and behavioral scenarios that accurately represent real-world hub operations. Supports simulation-based validation by creating test cases that evaluate multi-agent operations
Supports system integration with ROS2 middleware. Verifies compatibility across interfaces, topics, and data structures to ensure seamless communication between software components. Participates in integration testing within the simulation environment to confirm functional behavior under dynamic scenarios. Assists in debugging and resolving integration issues across the stack
Produces system-level documentation including architecture diagrams and data-flow diagrams. Prepares technical documentation to support knowledge sharing across the team
Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned
Qualification
Required
Pursuing a Master's degree in Robotics Engineering with a focus on robotics or autonomous driving
Candidates must have a GPA of 3.6 or higher on a 4.0 scale
Basics of robotics, including localization, planning, perception, and control
Knowledge of autonomous vehicle system architectures, particularly modules related to planning and decision-making
Exposure to middleware frameworks like ROS (Robot Operating System)
Familiarity with simulation platforms, preferably NVIDIA Isaac Sim or similar robotics simulation tools
Knowledge of optimization and AI-based path planning or decision-making algorithms
Proficiency in programming languages: C++, Python, and MATLAB/Simulink/Stateflow
Proficiency in robotics-related software: ROS, ROS2, NVIDIA Isaac Sim, PyTorch, OpenCV
Proficiency in project & issue tracking tool: JIRA, Confluence
Proficiency in version control management tool: GitHub
Valid driver license with good record
Preferred
Prior industry experience in robotics or autonomous driving
