Responsibilities

Work with Lab Analyst II, Sr Lab Analyst, and the department lead to receive training, use the QMS software to access and acknowledge training documents and work instructions

Provide some basic/intermediate training to other lab personnel on analytical methods and practices when required

Comply with all procedures and good laboratory practices

Follow standard procedures regarding sample preparation prior to instrumental analysis; this entails using rolling and cutting equipment, very accurate weighing of samples, hot plate acid digestion of samples, and accurate dilutions among other common laboratory procedures; attention to detail is a key requirement

Perform testing and data recording for provided samples using the following techniques (not necessarily a complete listing):

ICP-OES

Metallography

GDMS

Tensile Testing

IGA (LECO)

Tap Density

Hardness Testing

SEM/EDX (and Image Analysis)

Perform basic cleaning and maintenance of equipment

Maintain a safe, clean work environment, including the handling and movement of bulk acids

Participate in lab projects, including process improvement projects and safety projects

Proficient in the use of advanced Excel functions, LIMS (including maintenance of functions related to daily operations), SAP and other standard office software
