Equal Opportunity Specialist

Responsibilities
Works with USCIS immigration offices to identify and address issues impacting immigration petitioners’ ability to participate in USCIS’ programs, services, and activities
Manages an inventory of civil rights cases, including accommodation requests made by members of the public, and coordinates all actions to meet confidentiality standards and immigration program requirements
Provides technical advice and guidance to USCIS managers and employees on civil rights issues, including those related to the provision of accommodations for members of the public with disabilities
Frequently communicates both verbally and in writing with USCIS petitioners, their representatives, and internal stakeholders
Qualification
Required
You must be a U.S. Citizen or U.S. National to apply for this position
Successfully pass a Background Investigation including financial disclosure
You must pass a drug screening
You must submit resume and supporting documentation
Males born after 12/31/1959 must be registered with the Selective Service
Current Federal employees must have served 52 weeks at the lower grade or equivalent grade band in the Federal service
You qualify at the GS-12 level if you possess one (1) year of specialized experience, which is equivalent to at least the GS-11 level in the federal government, that equipped you with the skills needed to successfully perform the duties of the position
Implementing accommodation requests from customers with disabilities at in-person appointments
Performing problem-solving techniques to identify, recommend and coordinate solutions
Using appropriate and clear written and verbal communication to gather information and relay decisions to internal and external stakeholders on accommodation issues
Applying appropriate immigration laws, policies, and procedures to immigration applications
