6+ years expInternational City/County Management Association (ICMA) Veterans is seeking a dynamic leader to provide strategic and operational direction for all divisions within the Public Works department. The Director will lead major capital projects, manage contractors, and ensure efficient service delivery while maintaining and enhancing the city's infrastructure and public facilities.
Responsibilities
Lead and manage all divisions within the Public Works Department (Streets, Water Pollution Control, Buildings & Grounds, and Cemetery), ensuring effective operations, safety, and accountability
Develop and administer the department’s annual operating and capital budgets, including long-range infrastructure planning and equipment replacement schedules
Oversees maintenance and improvement of streets, stormwater infrastructure, wastewater systems, and public facilities
Manage critical and complex programs, including snow removal operations
Identify opportunities for application of public works management best practices and collaborate with team for effective implementation
Ensure compliance with all state and federal environmental and safety regulations
Provide technical guidance and direction to staff, engineers, and contractors on public works projects
Qualification
Required
A combination of relevant education and experience that provides the necessary knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the duties of the position will be considered
Bachelor's degree in civil engineering, public administration, environmental science, business administration, or a closely related field
Six (6) years of progressively responsible experience in public works, utilities, or infrastructure management, including supervisory experience
Preferred
Master's degree in a related field
Eight (8) or more years of management experience in public works or utilities
Professional Engineer (PE) license
