Cardiac Clinical Director
AP Health is a private practice comprised of advanced practice providers, providing perioperative services to hospitals and surgery centers. They are seeking a highly experienced Physician Assistant to serve as the Clinical Director of Cardiac Surgery, combining surgical first-assist responsibilities with operational and program management duties.

Responsibilities
Partner with leadership to identify staffing needs, assist in interviewing advanced practice providers and clinical staff, and lead onboarding/training initiatives to ensure smooth integration into the surgical team
Support service line growth by fostering relationships with referring physicians, participating in outreach efforts, and contributing to strategic planning for expanding surgical volumes and new service offerings
Oversee day-to-day coordination of surgical schedules, staffing coverage, and resource allocation; implement process improvements to maximize OR efficiency and optimize patient flow
Lead initiatives focused on clinical outcomes, compliance, and patient satisfaction
Function as a Surgical First Assistant in the Operating Room for cardiac procedures
Position and drape patients under the direction of the surgeon
Perform Endoscopic Vein Harvesting (EVH)
Conduct comprehensive and problem-focused histories and physicals
Round on post-op patients in ICU and step-down units
Participate in a rotating schedule for weekend and night CVOR coverage
Qualification
Required
10+ years of experience functioning as a surgical first assist in cardiac surgery
Experience in taking independent call
Current Texas State License
Board certification by the NCCPA (for PAs) or relevant board (for NPs)
Active BLS and ACLS
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
A strategic mindset and ability to collaborate across departments
Preferred
3+ years of leadership experience as a Lead APP, supervisor, or in a managerial role within a surgical service line
