Responsibilities
Support proposal developmental and guide other engineers in the development of deliverables for nuclear projects within the Mechanical discipline
Report to an assigned Project Engineer and Project Manager on multi-discipline proposals and projects and act as a Project Engineer for Mechanical projects when required
Act as a technical point of contact for the customer, and provide area expertise in development of industry standard design and calculations associated with design and construction of commercial nuclear modifications
Be responsible for working with other engineers and designers to prepare design change packages for modifications at operating nuclear plants and other associated nuclear facilities
Be proficient in preparation of engineering change packages (EC’s)
Prepare scoping documents and proposals to determine extent of modifications required, preparing cost estimates for engineering/design activities for Mechanical
Conduct field walkdowns to determine existing configuration of plant structures, systems, and components
Perform a broad range of Mechanical design activities to support development of design change documentation
Qualification
Required
Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited university
PE registration (highly preferred) – or ability to obtain PE License within one year of employment
Minimum of 6 years' experience in design and 4 years' experience in design of modifications in nuclear commercial plants
On-site and past unescorted access or ability to obtain unescorted access at an operating or construction nuclear plant
Experience with Industry Standard Design Procedure IP-ENG-001
Strong knowledge of mechanical design codes (ASME, ANSI, API, NFPA)
Effective oral and written communication skills (includes technical writing)
Ability to interpret codes and regulations, and standard practices
Demonstrate adaptability; must be proficient in identifying, troubleshooting, and resolving issues within a nuclear power plant environment
Excellent communication skills and ability to interface with customers and internal team members under a matrixed organization
Preferred
Master of Science or other advanced degree in engineering
PE registration (highly preferred) – or ability to obtain PE License within one year of employment
Experience performing pipe stress analysis using AutoPIPE or a similar software
Experience working with multiple operating nuclear clients, specifically Constellation Nuclear, and vendors
On-site and past unescorted access (highly preferred) or ability to obtain unescorted access at an operating or construction nuclear plant
Proficient computer skills (e.g. Microsoft Office Suite). Additional software skills including Bluebeam, MicroStation, AutoCAD, Vault, Plant3D, Inventor, ReCap, SolidWorks, FARO Scene, and other 3D rendering programs
