Assistant Vice President and Director of Campus Life
West Virginia Wesleyan College is seeking an Assistant Vice President & Director of Campus Life who will provide strategic leadership and oversight for programs that enhance student success and engagement. The role involves overseeing housing operations, campus programming, and key student support services while promoting a safe and inclusive campus environment.

Responsibilities
Lead assessment efforts to evaluate the effectiveness of student life initiatives, using data to inform improvements
Support student success and retention through intentional programming, early intervention, and targeted outreach. Serve as a core member of the Behavioral Intervention Team, coordinating responses to students of concern
Foster a culture of growth and excellence through supervision of professional, graduate assistant, and student staff
Oversee Campus Life operations including Residence Life, Housing Operations, Student Accountability, Campus Programming, Wellness Center, Outdoor Recreation, Commuter Student Services, Summer Conferencing, and the Campus Calendar
Ensure the student accountability process reflects the College’s educational mission, emphasizing learning, reflection, and growth
Oversee departmental budgets and ensure efficient use of resources
Advise Student Senate, Senior Class, and other recognized student organizations; oversee leadership training and development for all student leaders
Support student organization recognition processes and compliance with institutional policies
Maintain high visibility by attending key student programs, events, and athletic competitions
Serve on campus committees, including the following: Early Alert, Behavioral Intervention Team, Athletics Gender Equity, Hazing (chair), Academic & Leadership Awards, Clery, and Critical Incident Response
Serve as Chief Student Accountability Officer and Deputy Title IX Coordinator
Assist with compliance with federal, state, and institutional regulations (Title IX, Clery Act, FERPA)
Oversee housing assignments, room selection processes, break communications, move-in/move-out, and liaise with Physical Plant on residence hall facility conditions
Oversee and execute annual residence life training, student accountability board training, and professional staff development
Oversee coordination of annual events such as RA Appreciation Day, Spring Sing, Academic & Leadership Awards, and housing lotteries
Manage summer conferencing and summer housing operations
Update and publish relevant sections of the Student Handbook and student life resources annually
Qualification
Required
Master's degree in Higher Education Administration, Student Affairs, or related field required
Minimum of 5 years of progressive leadership experience in student affairs, including housing/residence life, student accountability, and campus programming
Demonstrated knowledge of student development theory, crisis management, retention strategies, and risk management
Experience in assessment, strategic planning, and staff development
Strong supervisory, budget management, and organizational skills
Excellent interpersonal, communication, and problem-solving abilities
Commitment to fostering an inclusive, equitable, and supportive campus environment
