Senior Engineer - Integrated Plant Design (Remote Eligible, U.S.)

GE Vernova is a leader in advanced nuclear reactor projects, and they are seeking a Senior Engineer to perform a leadership role within their Plant Systems Integration teams. The role involves engineering design support, project management, and collaboration with various stakeholders to advance the design of new nuclear plants.

Responsibilities

Demonstrates accountability for cost, schedule, quality, and technical accuracy of assigned tasks
Provide technical guidance and leadership, oversee project scheduling and resource planning, develop talent through mentorship, and act as the point-of-contact between your engineering team and both internal and external customers
Conducts component and system integration with overall new nuclear plant design. All activities that span multiple components and systems that are concerned with how to integrate for maximum performance, operability, and design to cost
Manages product and systems requirements, specifications, and flow down
Drive the identification of verification and validation (V&V) requirements at the plant, system, and component level
Responsible for defining plant-level design requirements for the systems, components, subcontractors, and partner teams
Manages interface between systems, components, and project/product management organizations
Developing specialized knowledge in their discipline. Serves as best practice/quality resource. Developing specialized knowledge in their discipline, preferably Instrument & Controls. Has awareness of latest technical developments in own area. Contributes towards strategy and policy development and ensure delivery within area of responsibility
Has in-depth knowledge of best practices and how your area integrates with others; has working knowledge of competition and the factors that differentiate them in the market
Uses judgment to make decisions or solve moderately complex tasks or problems in areas of operational/product management, manufacturing, technology, or engineering. Takes new perspective on existing solutions
Uses technical experience and expertise for data analysis to support recommendations. Uses multiple internal and limited external sources outside of own function to arrive at decisions
Acts as a resource for colleagues with less experience. May lead small projects with moderate risks and resource requirements. Explains difficult or sensitive information; works to build consensus. Developing persuasion skills required to influence others on topics within field

Required

Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Physics from an accredited university or college
Minimum of 8 years of experience in an engineering capacity

Preferred

Masters or PhD in Engineering (Nuclear, Mechanical, Electrical, or Civil)
Experience with Nuclear Island, Turbine Island and BOP plant systems and with the associated safety analyses design bases
Experience as a Senior Reactor Operator (SRO) at a nuclear power plant is strongly desired
SRO experience in multiple capacities including on-shift, outage prep, work control, and/or training
10+ years of commercial nuclear engineering experience in multiple capacities including Design, Licensing, PRA, and/or Systems -OR- 10+ years of shipyard nuclear systems engineering experience
Experience developing or working with Instrument & Controls
Requirements Management experience utilize DOORs or similar tool
Licensed Professional Engineer
Strong knowledge of plant operations, licensing and design bases, transient and accident analysis
Strong oral and written communication skills
Strong interpersonal and leadership skills
Relocation to Wilmington, NC is strongly desired
