Assistant City Attorney III (City Attorney's Office - Non-Civil Service)
The City of Dallas is seeking an experienced senior level attorney to engage in legal work involving trials, claims, and taxation. The successful candidate will manage a high volume of tort litigation, draft legal documents, attend depositions, and negotiate settlements.

Responsibilities
Defending tort claims under the Texas Tort Claims Act
Managing a high volume of tort litigation, including drafting pleadings, motions, briefs, written discovery, and other case-related documents
Attending depositions
Appearing at hearings
Serving as lead or co-counsel in all phases of case preparation, including trial preparation and trials
Negotiating settlements
Mediating cases
Brieing and arguing tort-related appeals, as necessary, in collaboration with the Appellate Section
Managing third-party subpoenas and discovery requests in civil and criminal cases where the city is not a party
Occasionally assisting with federal constitutional tort claims under 42 U.S.C. § 1983
Qualification
Required
Minimum of five years of relevant experience in civil litigation
Experience defending personal injury lawsuits in Texas state court
Excellent research, writing, analytical, and critical thinking skills
Organized and able to work well under pressure
Excellent communication skills
Licensed to practice law in Texas
