They are seeking an experienced Metallurgical Engineer – Forging to support and enhance forging process controls, metallurgical quality, and compliance with governing standards and customer specifications.

Responsibilities

Establish, maintain, and implement process controls for forging operations to improve product quality and consistency
Develop Technical Data Sheets (forging, heat treatment, and testing requirements) based on material grade, governing standards, specifications, and customer requirements
Review and provide technical input on customer purchase orders and specifications
Support the sales team with technical and testing requirements during RFQ and order review
Lead and support R&D initiatives for new materials, alloys, and specifications
Verify and validate mill test reports (MTRs), laboratory data, and test results
Conduct product failure analysis using laboratory and test data to determine root cause and recommend corrective actions
Interface with quality, production, inspection, and engineering teams to ensure compliance with applicable standards

Required

Bachelor's degree in Metallurgical Engineering
Mechanical Engineering with a concentration in Metallurgy will also be considered
Minimum 5 years of experience in forging and/or foundry metallurgy
Working knowledge of applicable industry standards, including: ASME, ASTM, API, AMS, MIL-SPEC, EB/NAVY, ASNT, and related specifications
Strong understanding of forging materials, mechanical properties, and chemical requirements to meet industry standards
Knowledge of raw materials, forging processes, heat treatment, and quality control methodologies
Familiarity with laboratory testing methods, metallurgical evaluation, and scientific problem-solving techniques
Strong verbal and written communication skills across technical and non-technical teams
Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook
