WAVY-TV 10 is seeking a dynamic Sports Intern for the Summer semester of 2026 to learn the inner workings of a newsroom and Sports Department. The intern will assist in writing, shooting, and editing sports reports, working closely with photographers and sports reporters.

Responsibilities

Writing, shooting, and editing for sports reports in newscasts
Working with photographers and sports reporters in the newsroom and in the field to prep for the final on-air stories
Experiencing other departments and aspects of a TV station
Writing and editing sportscast elements and shooting and editing sports interviews/stories

Qualification

Video editingAVID/Final Cut ProAdobe Creative SuiteJournalism coursesSports knowledgeWillingness to learnTeam collaboration

Required

Completed journalism and TV Production courses
Understanding of journalistic integrity
Passion for the news and sports news fields
Working knowledge of video editing using software like AVID/Final Cut Pro
Enrolled in a college degree-granting program
Proof of enrollment in an internship course within that program
Ability to work a varying schedule Sunday through Saturday

Preferred

Familiarity with sports and newswriting software
Experience with ADOBE Creative Suites
