Structural Engineer (Part-time Variable)

The Structural Engineer will provide technical review and oversight for hydraulic steel structures, mentor team members, and conduct site inspections to support various projects in the dams and reservoirs sector.

Responsibilities
Provide technical review of specifications, design drawings, reports, and calculations regarding hydraulic steel structures
Mentor and share knowledge regarding welding, fracture critical structures, and lessons learned regarding the fabrication of hydraulic steel structures
Visit fabrication shops and perform surprise inspections
Review shop drawings, RFIs, weld inspection reports, welder qualifications, and other fabrication related submittals
Perform site visits related to hydraulic steel structures, including inspections, retrofits, gate replacement, and other tasks to support client objectives
Attend workshops as a SME for risk evaluations related to hydraulic steel structures
Provide expert review on the welding of penstocks, penstock material selection, fabrication of penstocks, and delivery of penstocks to sites being developed for pump hydro
Attend technical conferences with clients as a SME regarding the fabrication, welding, and construction of hydraulic steel structures including gates and penstocks
Author short memos and sections of reports that detail welding requirements, welder qualifications, weld NDT testing, shop visits, cons
Support and provide oversight on the development of hydraulic steel structure design path, gate selection, pros and cons of gate type, weld detailing, construction and fabrication detailing, and inspection schedule
Qualification
Required
BA/BS+12 years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education
