Commodity Associate Intern (Early Careers)

S&P Global Energy is seeking summer interns to work directly with price reporting and strategic engagement teams across various commodity markets. The intern will learn about market reporting and price formation processes while generating news coverage, performing research, and contributing to special projects.

Responsibilities

Identify drivers moving daily markets
Complete research and/or specials projects
Become skilled in successful interviewing techniques and how to obtain data for commentary
Write concise, informative commentary and research pieces
Verify source information through appropriate channels
Learn and demonstrate understanding of Platts price assessment and Market-on-Close process

Required

Only candidates who are US citizens or green card holders will be considered for this position
Students graduating in December 2026 or May 2027 required; master's students also considered
Must be available for internship from June 1st - August 7th
Writing experience, and familiarity or strong interest in learning about commodity markets
Strong communication skills (good verbal skills, listening techniques, and a clear, concise writing style)
Problem-solving, time management, attention to detail & strong organizational skills
Intellectually curious, and the ability to learn quickly and produce high-quality results
Some knowledge of social media, web technologies (e.g. HTML), and Generative AI
Significant comfort level with suite of Microsoft Office products (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint)

Preferred

Journalism majors are preferred but all majors are welcome including Economics, Energy Economics, Communication, Agricultural Communication, or International Relations
