Assistant Civil Engineer
The City of New York's Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) is responsible for maintaining the environment and public health for New Yorkers. They are seeking an Assistant Civil Engineer to join their Construction Management – Inspections team to ensure compliance with NYC water and sewer systems regulations and standards.

Responsibilities
Developing a thorough understanding of all application and permit procedures related to water and sewer connections, including knowledge of Site/House Connection Proposal Forms and Plans for sewer connections
Conducting inspections to ensure that construction work, materials, and work performed by licensed plumbers or contractors comply fully with current DEP standards and specifications
Maintaining accurate and detailed records of inspections and site visits; documenting findings objectively and comprehensively to support sound engineering conclusions
Participating in professional meetings with Design Engineers, Professional Engineers, Licensed Plumbers, and Contractors, as well as internal unit staff, to discuss project progress, resolve issues, and ensure alignment with regulatory standards
Engaging in engineering studies, investigations, and examinations relevant to the operations of the Inspection Unit
Qualification
Required
A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college in civil engineering and one year of full-time satisfactory experience in civil engineering work
A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college and a Master's degree from an accredited college in civil engineering
