Manager, Volunteer Program

Responsibilities
Lead the development and daily management of the Volunteer Program, ensuring alignment with Getty’s mission and visitor experience priorities
Collaborate with Visitor & Security Services leadership; participate in weekly management meetings and cross-departmental projects
Serve periodically as Manager on Duty, overseeing operations at the Getty Center or Villa
Develop and implement volunteer engagement strategies, including recruitment, onboarding, training, scheduling, retention, and recognition
Maintain accurate volunteer records, track hours, and prepare reports to evaluate program effectiveness
Partner with department heads to assess volunteer needs and ensure adequate coverage for programs, events, and daily operations
Support and promote Getty’s commitment to equity and inclusion in volunteer engagement
Organize ongoing training, enrichment, and recognition opportunities for volunteers
Act as a frontline ambassador for Getty’s mission, vision, and values, ensuring volunteers are informed and engaged
Monitor internal and external communications (newsletters, website, social media, signage) to support continuity of visitor experience
Manage program budgets in collaboration with the Sr. Budget Analyst
Build relationships with peer institutions to benchmark and share best practices
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree required
3–6 years of supervisory or program management experience, preferably in cultural or nonprofit settings
Proven success in leading inclusive recruitment, onboarding, and volunteer engagement efforts
Experience managing large volunteer workforces (200+ individuals)
Preferred
Prior museum or cultural institution experience preferred
