Intern, R&D Graduate Summer - Computational Materials Science, Hybrid

The Summer R&D Graduate Intern will join the computational materials science team to apply skills in materials modeling, simulation, and machine learning to address national challenges.

Responsibilities
Simulate atomistic, molecular, or grain-scale phenomena to understand and predict material behavior during manufacturing, performance, or aging
Apply machine learning and artificial intelligence to advance simulation methods, enable high-throughput workflows, or discover data-driven process-property-performance relationships
Visualize and interpret data using appropriate software tools and analysis methods
Collaborate with your technical mentor and research team to plan and execute your project
Contribute to publications, presentations, and technical reports to communicate your results
Grow your research skills in a high-performing research team
Qualification
Required
Earned bachelor's degree
Currently attending and enrolled full time in the spring term immediately preceding the internship (or scheduled to graduate in the spring) in an accredited science, engineering, or math graduate program
Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0/4.0
Ability to work up to 40 hours per week during the summer
U.S. citizens, legal permanent residents, asylees or refugees in the U.S
Preferred
Materials Science, Physics, Chemistry, Chemical Eng., Mechanical Eng., Nuclear Eng., or relevant major
Experience conducting simulation and analysis
Proficiency with scripting for scientific analysis using languages like Python, MATLAB, R, or similar
Proven ability to succeed through teaming with others
Demonstrated ability to develop and present technical ideas in oral and written form
