Development Senior Accountant

AOG Living is a national multi-family management company seeking an experienced Senior Accountant with a proactive attitude. The role involves overseeing day-to-day and month-end accounting activities related to development projects, including financial reporting, loan compliance, and coordination with stakeholders.

Responsibilities

Manage preparation of multiple entities’ financial statements by accounting team
Review and analyze the general ledger, reconcile accounts, prepare necessary accruals and adjust journal entries in accordance with GAAP
Review/assist with monthly development loan draws, including preparation of requisitions, supporting documentation, and lender compliance requirements
Manage cash activity, including monitoring balances and performing monthly inter-account transfers as needed to ensure adequate funding for project and corporate obligations
Review and process vendor invoices; coordinate approval workflows and ensure payments are aligned with project budgets
Prepare quarterly and annual financial statements, work papers, and supporting schedules for auditors, lenders, and investors
Prepare fund and tiered entity monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, work papers, and supporting schedules for management and investors. Certain funds have fair value reporting requirements
Assist with calculations for preferred returns and waterfall schedules. Assist with calculations for recognition of fee revenue and associated allocations
Assist with external audits, ensuring timely responses and accurate documentation
Monitor tiered entities budgets and forecasts, tracking changes and providing updates to management
Partner with project managers, development team, and senior leadership to provide timely financial insights and support decision-making
Ensure compliance with loan agreements, partnership agreements, and internal accounting policies
Support special projects and process improvements as assigned by management

Required

Bachelor's degree in accounting, Finance, or related field required
Minimum 3 years of accounting experience, real estate development, construction, or related industry experience preferred
Strong understanding of GAAP and financial reporting, specifically experience with preparing consolidated financial statements preferred
Proficiency in accounting software (experience with ResMan, Sage Intacct, RealPage, Juniper or similar systems is a plus)
Advanced Excel skills, including pivot tables and complex formulas
Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and ability to meet deadlines
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; ability to collaborate effectively across departments and with external stakeholders

Preferred

Minimum 3 years of accounting experience, real estate development, construction, or related industry experience preferred
Strong understanding of GAAP and financial reporting, specifically experience with preparing consolidated financial statements preferred
Proficiency in accounting software (experience with ResMan, Sage Intacct, RealPage, Juniper or similar systems is a plus)
