CHILD DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM CLERK (OFFICE AUTOMATION)

Responsibilities
Performs clerical and administrative work in support of the office/organization
Provides courteous, timely and knowledgeable customer service to facility users and staff in person, via email, and by telephone
Assists in the accurate and timely execution of funds management and collection of fees
Assists in the control of facilities, equipment and supplies
In the absence of the Center Director, Assistant Director, or Supervisory Education Tech acts as the supervisor on duty

Males must be registered for Selective Service, see www.sss.gov
This position requires an uncommon tour of duty, which will include nights, weekends, and holidays
This is a childcare position subject to background checks
Position required certification in CPR, and training in first aid, medical, and security requirements and procedures
Must possess maturity and judgement and be capable of handling emergency situations common in dealing with small children in a child development center environment
Complete training in the observation of symptoms of illness is desirable
Acts as site supervisor in the absence of supervisor/director/assistant director
Immunizations and physical required
The incumbent must have the ability to type a minimum of 40 WPM
Applicants must have at least one (1) year of specialized experience at the next lower grade GS-04, or equivalent in other pay systems
Examples of specialized experience includes knowledge of child care programs and procedures related to Child Development and Youth operations
Knowledge of the organizational functions and services to answer inquiries or refer to the responsible staff member
Knowledge of administrative policies or regulations to maintain files or records and perform clerical assignments
Knowledge of duties, priorities, commitments, policies, and program goals of the organization sufficient to perform non-routine assignments
Four (4) years of education above the high school level obtained in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college or university
A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position
Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas: Knowledge of common clerical practices and office routines
Knowledge of Child Development Center programs and procedures
Knowledge of various office automation software programs, tools, and techniques to support office operations and produce a variety of documents such as letters, reports, spreadsheets, databases, and graphs
Knowledge of correct grammar, spelling, punctuation, capitalization, and skill in typing to accurately format and prepare required correspondence and documentation
Ability to communicate effectively orally, using tact and courtesy
Ability to learn money handling techniques and procedures
