Human Resources Manager - US (United States)
Perma-Pipe is a global leader in engineered piping solutions, and they are seeking a Human Resources Manager to oversee all HR functions within their US operations. The role involves providing strategic leadership in employee relations, talent management, and compliance, while enhancing employee experience and supporting business objectives.

Responsibilities
Develop HR initiatives and programs that support Perma-Pipe’s business strategy
Identify opportunities for employee experience improvement and develop and execute strategies / programs for improvement
Leverage people analytics to provide data-driven insights to business leadership that improve business performance and employee experience
Lead change management within the business units supported
Provide strategic leadership to build leadership capability, while serving as a trusted leader who models Perma-Pipe core values and supports business objectives
Oversee the talent management program for Perma Pipe’s US operations
Liaise with Business Leaders and Corporate HR team to execute on programs including annual reviews, individual performance plans, talent development execution, succession planning, revising and developing new position descriptions, tracking due dates for performance follow up with supervisors and managers
Champion employee engagement initiatives and resolve issues impacting on employee relations
Develop strategies to improve turnover within the business unit
Proactively manage union relations, including the interpretation and application of contract bargaining agreements, union negotiations, resolution of grievances, and adherence to all labor laws and regulations
Lead the development, in conjunction with Talent Acquisition partners to identify and execute talent acquisition strategies to attract high performing talent
Actively partner with hiring managers throughout all phases of recruiting including developing new and updating existing job descriptions, determining recruiting strategies, interviewing and selection
Conduct orientation including completing necessary documents, company overview and introductions, benefit enrollment and company policies
Conduct exit interviews, advising departing staff of eligible benefits and other pertinent information
Leverage technology to improve processes and efficiencies
Business unit lead for all Perma-Pipe compensation, insurance and benefit programs
Advise staff on benefit eligibility
Ensure compliance with union benefit payment and reporting requirements
Collaborate with safety management team to provide and maintain a healthy and safe work environment
Actively participate in and contribute to monthly safety meetings and initiatives
Oversee training of managers and employees about health and safety issues and risks, and support safety programs to drive safety awareness
Know and understand all local, provincial and federal labor laws to ensure Perma-Pipe’s compliance with the laws
Communicate new policies to all staff and provide training as needed

Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business, or related field
Five or more years of Human Resources Generalist / Management experience required, demonstrating a sound knowledge of safety, performance management, organizational development, diversity, compensation practices, and federal and provincial employment laws
Significant experience and resolution of complex employee and labor relations issues
Strong computer skills, familiarity with HRIS systems; Paycom preferred
Two or more years of experience in a Union manufacturing facility
Two or more years of experience supporting sales and/or corporate employees
Strong leadership, including the ability to influence and motivate others
Excellent oral and written communication skills in order to deal effectively with internal and external customers
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
Strong ability to build effective partnerships across senior leaders and frontline employees, in both plant and corporate environments
Ability, determination, and tenacity to move major initiatives forward, injecting pace and focus, while consistently thinking of the bottom-line impact of the efforts
Results orientated history of having set targets and moving forward to gain traction, even through adversity, delivering successfully, and showing the ability to achieve results through people
Must be to-the-point, decisive and have a strong sense of ownership
Demonstrated track record of successfully working with leaders to deliver a strategy that supports and drives financial growth
Strategic thinker with a keen eye for detail and a proactive approach to problem-solving
High level of integrity, confidentiality, and dependability
Ability to handle high pressure situations and deadlines
