Course Mentor - Software Engineering

Responsibilities
Facilitate weekly office hours to provide live support, answer questions, and clarify academic content
Serve as the main point of contact for a caseload of up to 250 students, ensuring responsiveness and proactive outreach
Provide individualized coaching to encourage timely submissions, foster persistence, and promote student wellness
Provide guidance on institutional policies and processes
Assess summative assignments and deliver high-quality, rubric-aligned feedback that supports learning outcomes
Collaborate with Faculty and Assessors to ensure consistent application of assessment standards and expectations
Track student engagement and escalate academic concerns, conduct issues, or risk indicators to Lead Faculty
Cultivate a sense of connection among students through facilitated discussions, study groups, and peer interaction
Participate in weekly instructional team meetings to align on course pacing, academic trends, and support strategies
Contribute to cohort-wide interventions and communications to promote student success
Facilitate communications with students through email and the community platform - with emails, announcements, and other tools
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in a relevant discipline (e.g., Computer Science, Education, Business, or related field)
Experience supporting or teaching students in an online or asynchronous environment
Strong written communication and student coaching skills
Familiarity with learning management systems and digital communication tools
Commitment to inclusive, student-centered instruction and support
Preferred
Master's degree in a related field
Experience with assessment, feedback, or academic coaching
Knowledge of project-based, competency-based, or cohort-based education models
Familiarity with global or regionally distributed student populations
Prior experience in student affairs, academic advising, or mentorship roles
