Responsibilities

Confirms coverage of claims by reviewing policies and documents submitted in support of claims
Direct and monitor assignments of new loss activity for environmental claims
Review and approve correspondence and reports including coverage position letters and Large Loss Reports
Review and approve reserves and settlements in excess of the authority of the handling specialist
Make recommendations concerning reserve changes to Director or Senior Management
Participate in review and discussion of large loss activity in the environmental book with interested stakeholders (UW, PL, Actuarial, Executive Management)
Ensure that team adheres to Fair Claims Practices regulations and internal performance objectives
Assess and evaluate individual specialist and team performance, provide feedback and develop training needs
Prepare and distribute reports by collecting and summarizing information
Assist in preparation of budgets, evaluation of expenses and assess resource needs
Foster and encourage strong relationships with internal stakeholders (UW, PL, Actuarial)
Promote and enhance strong relationships with customers and channel partners
Participate in special projects as requested
Travel to other claim offices, mediations, trials, and conferences as required

Required

Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience
Must have or be eligible to receive claims adjuster license
Successful achievement of industry designations (INS, IEA, AIC, ARM, SCLA, CPCU) or I-Lead or other Management Training
Minimum of 10 years of claims experience or equivalent combination of education and experience
Excellent written and oral communication skills
Strong analytical and problem solving skills
Strong organization and time management skills
Ability to deliver outstanding customer service
Intermediate skills in Microsoft Office products (Excel, Outlook, Power Point, Word)
Ability to work in a team environment
Strong desire for continuous improvement
A willingness to train and develop more junior associates to prepare them for more senior-level claims handling roles
US Work Authorization required

Preferred

JD, advanced degree, or focused technical degree a plus
Prior claims management experience strongly preferred
