2026 Summer Research Internship: Evaluating Electricity Market Tools
Resources for the Future (RFF) is a policy-oriented research organization focused on improving environmental, energy, and natural resource decisions. They are seeking a Summer Research Intern to evaluate wholesale electricity market models and provide technical support for impactful research under the guidance of RFF Fellows.

Responsibilities
Learn about and evaluate wholesale electricity market models or tools
Investigate and compare models and tools existing in literature that assess capacity markets and resource adequacy
Help create a new analytical tool or combine existing approaches to assess market design features
Potentially collaborate with the Fellows on a research paper beyond the paid internship
Qualification
Required
Education: Priority is given to candidates enrolled in a graduate program that is relevant to RFF's research and mission
Highly motivated candidates in economics or related fields with a keen interest in energy and public policy are encouraged to apply
PhD candidates with economics, electricity systems engineering, industrial engineering, or operations research training are preferred for this position
Experience in statistical or computational programming languages such as R, Python, or GAMS
Preferred
Experience working on a power sector/electricity model
