Supplier Quality Engineer

Responsibilities

Establish and manage supplier quality performance metrics and develop supplier scorecards
Conduct supplier audits, assessments, and evaluations to ensure compliance with company standards and regulatory requirements
Identify and resolve quality issues related to suppliers and ensure corrective actions are implemented
Develop and maintain strong relationships with key suppliers to drive improvements in quality and performance
Lead quality improvement projects aimed at reducing defects, improving supplier performance, and optimizing supply chain processes
Work closely with suppliers to implement corrective actions and process improvements
Promote and support the use of Six Sigma, Lean, and other quality improvement methodologies
Partner with cross-functional teams, including Purchasing, Engineering, Manufacturing, and Product Development, to address and resolve quality concerns
Provide technical guidance to suppliers and internal teams to address quality issues and ensure timely resolution
Ensure that all suppliers comply with industry standards, regulatory requirements, and internal company policies
Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of supplier audits, quality reports, and corrective actions
Review and approve supplier documentation related to quality, such as inspection plans, certificates of conformance, and reports
Train suppliers on quality standards, inspection techniques, and company-specific requirements
Provide internal training to the organization on best practices for supplier quality management and quality control

Required

Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Quality Management, Supply Chain, or a related field
Minimum of 5 years of experience in supplier quality management or quality assurance, preferably in a manufacturing or engineering environment
Strong experience with supplier audits, root cause analysis, and corrective/preventive actions
Knowledge of quality systems, standards (ISO 9001, IATF 16949), and regulatory requirements (CFR, GMP, etc.)
Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and decision-making skills
Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with internal teams and external suppliers
Proficiency with quality management software and tools (e.g., SAP, Minitab, APQP, FMEA)
Strong knowledge of manufacturing processes (welding, assembly) and materials (steel)
Six Sigma Green/Black Belt
Certified Quality Engineer (CQE)
ASQ Certified Supplier Quality Professional (CSQP)

Preferred

A Master's degree or professional certification (e.g., Six Sigma, CQE) is a plus
