Alta Planning + Design is a sustainable transportation company dedicated to creating active, healthy communities through planning and landscape architecture. They are seeking an Associate Landscape Architect II (Project Manager) to work on the design of sustainable transportation and non-motorized recreation projects, managing multiple projects while ensuring successful project delivery.

Responsibilities

Work on the design of a variety of sustainable transportation and non-motorized recreation projects
Establish design direction and review working drawings for multiple projects
Manage projects of different scales, including high-quality, accurate and complete design documents, reports, and analyses
Lead the development of cost estimates and design details for construction documents for streetscape, urban design, trail design, and other placemaking projects
Facilitate public engagement and communicate graphically
Contribute to some business development and marketing operations
Successfully manage projects and ensure successful project delivery

Required

Bachelor's or Master's degree in Landscape Architecture, Urban Design, or related field of study
10 or more years of experience in a consulting environment or public entity; including three (3) or more years as a Project Manager; three (3) or more years managing staff
Experience in the field of active, non-motorized transportation
Demonstrated understanding of Complete Streets and trail design principles and a general understanding of project management principles, methods and techniques
In-depth knowledge of NACTO, MUTCD, ADA, and relevant state DOT design requirements
In-depth knowledge of the principles of site grading and general construction techniques
Ability to create photo-renderings, concept sketches, construction drawings and other similar materials for use in proposals and project deliverables
Ability to effectively read, understand and utilize technical drawings, maps, and other similar documents
Ability to guide staff members and manage internal team expectations
Exhibits strong initiative and ability to capitalize on opportunities to enhance Alta's position in the marketplace
Ability to manage competing priorities, multiple simultaneous projects involving cross-functional project teams within budgetary and schedule constraints
Ability and willingness to travel
Excellent professional ethics, leadership skills, accountability, and decision-making capabilities
Good presentation skills
Proficient in MS Excel, Word, PowerPoint, AutoCAD, or similar products
Proficiency in an enterprise-wide resource planning and project management tool

Preferred

Creative expression in a variety of formats and mediums (i.e. concept diagrams, sketches, renderings, animations)
Experience managing design production teams
Experience managing large projects for both private and public clients
Proficiency in AutoCAD, Adobe Creative Suite, Civil 3D, Photoshop, ArcGIS, SketchUp, GoogleEarth GIS, or similar products
Experience using Deltek Vision
Active participation in industry-relevant professional associations and committees
Licensure – PLA
