Sr. Manager, Enterprise Architecture
Mazda North American Operations is seeking a Senior Manager of Enterprise Architecture to define and enforce architecture standards and modernization strategies. Responsibilities
Design and govern Mazda’s enterprise technology blueprint, establishing architecture standards, reusable patterns, and governance processes that guide all business and IT domains
Establish and institutionalize enterprise-architecture practices, including decision-rights models, architecture maturity metrics, and standard review cadences through CX CoE
Define and maintain capability models and reference architectures adopted across business and IT portfolios
Define, maintain, and communicate the enterprise architecture vision and multi-year roadmaps across business, data, application, and technology domains
Align architectural initiatives with Mazda’s strategic objectives and CIO priorities to ensure technology investments deliver measurable business value
Lead enterprise architecture review boards, establish clear decision-making frameworks, and drive the modernization of MANO’s technology ecosystem—transitioning from legacy platforms to a secure, hybrid-cloud environment with a strong focus on Microsoft Azure
Collaborate with global business leaders (manufacturing, sales, aftersales) to align strategies
Define and govern the Software-Defined Vehicle (SDV) reference architecture — encompassing OTA lifecycle, in-vehicle software updates, telemetry ingestion, and API management
Collaborate with R&D and Data teams to enable predictive maintenance, personalization, and monetization use cases
Establish secure, scalable data pipelines that enable real-time insights, personalization, and monetization opportunities across Mazda’s customer and dealer experiences
Define the enterprise data and integration frameworks underpinning Software-Defined Vehicle (SDV) and EEA initiatives covering software lifecycle management, cloud-to-car integration, and cybersecurity while embedding data governance, interoperability, and lineage to connect the vehicle, cloud, and enterprise systems into one unified data ecosystem
Architect and optimize modern mobile car app platforms to serve as digital extensions of the vehicle, enabling data-driven features, intelligent services, and new revenue streams from connected experiences, subscriptions, and value-added services
Partner with R&D, data science, and external technology ecosystems to unlock the commercial value of connected-vehicle data, vehicle lifecycle management and customer lifecycle management
Lead design and governance of Mazda’s Azure enterprise platform — landing zones, identity management, networking, data-lakehouse integration, and cost optimization
Implement Microsoft CAF guardrails and DevSecOps standards across all Azure workloads
Define hybrid/edge patterns to connect factory, vehicle, and enterprise data
Where possible architect IT/OT convergence frameworks that securely integrate shop-floor systems with enterprise platforms (ERP, Data Lakehouse, AI)
Design cloud and edge architectures (Azure preferred) to enable real-time data processing, digital twins, and predictive maintenance
Standardize manufacturing data models and governance, ensuring quality, traceability, and interoperability across plants and supply chain partners
Connect factory data into enterprise and vehicle analytics to enable closed-loop feedback between production, warranty, and customer experience
Collaborate with R&D and global teams to scale Smart Factory platforms that align with Mazda’s sustainability, quality, and innovation goals
Maintain a comprehensive inventory of enterprise applications and business capabilities to support effective planning, lifecycle management, and modernization
Establish and enforce architectural standards, patterns, and frameworks (e.g., TOGAF, automotive industry standards, cybersecurity best practices) to ensure consistency and quality across all solutions
Ensure compliance and interoperability with regulations, data standards, and ecosystems (e.g., AUTOSAR, APIs, and mobility platforms) to enable seamless integration across Mazda’s global landscape
Responsible for employment decisions, salary and promotional recommendations, training and appraising performance, promptly and appropriately addressing deficient performance and/or inappropriate behaviors by working with upper management and Human Resources
Coach and manage staff individual performance. Promote a culture of collaboration, continuous improvement, quality and accountability
Mentor solution and domain architects to uplift architecture maturity across IT and engineering
Perform other duties as assigned

Qualification
Required
10+ years experience in IT and enterprise architecture
8+ years experience in a senior/strategic enterprise architecture role
8+ years of leadership experience in digital manufacturing, sales, and aftersales IT enablement
Expertise in software-defined vehicles, OTA (over-the-air) frameworks, IoT, and data/AI platforms
Understanding of software/application lifecycle (Agile/DevOps) within the automotive sector
Ability to influence senior leadership and drive enterprise-wide architecture adoption
Ability to synthesize complex technical concepts into executive-level strategy presentations
Must be analytical and a problem solver with the ability to identify problems and/or cause-effect relationships; identify key issues; secure relevant information from all appropriate sources; identify possible root causes of problems and develop and implement corrective actions for resolution
Interpersonal skills; Must be able to establish and maintain effective working relationships with all levels of management, employees, customers, and outside vendors; Must be able to clearly and effectively communicate both orally and in writing, using good grammatical form, both in general correspondence, as well as on technical issues
Organizational skills and the ability to prioritize tasks are essential. Must be able to establish a course of action for self and others/department to accomplish specific goals; must plan and prioritize proper assignments of personnel and/or appropriate allocation of resources
As a manager, leadership skills are essential. Must be able to utilize appropriate interpersonal styles and methods in guiding individuals/department (subordinates, peers, superiors) or groups toward task accomplishment. Must consistently adhere to MNAO policies and procedures and be a positive example for others by demonstrating the leadership competencies and Pride Point behaviors
Self-motivated and capable of working with minimal supervision and/or direction
Preferred
Experience in connected vehicle ecosystems, SDV4 frameworks, and cloud-native architectures
Experience in automotive industry standards (AUTOSAR, ISO 26262 functional safety, ISO 21434 cybersecurity)
A Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer and Information Science or Management Information Systems
