Responsibilities
Design and implement robust database solutions across multiple platforms
Optimize database performance and ensure data integrity
Manage and optimize replication and backup strategies
Create and maintain database documentation
Collaborate with development teams on data architecture
Troubleshoot complex database issues
Create and optimize database maintenance and operational procedures
Develop automation solutions for database operations and monitoring
Participate in on-call rotations and incident response
A forward-looking attitude that keeps you aware of the latest in database and data engineering technologies
Exhibit excellent oral and written communication skills
Attend to any issues related to Databases
Review and assess existing RDS implementation and recommend right sizing of each databases based on usage
Collaborate with app owners to right size the RDS environments to reduce the spend
Implement IAM role based authentication to DB access
Develop and deploy automated deployment and maintenance procedures
Implement robust backup and recovery solutions - Periodically Manage database security and access controls
Create and maintain database monitoring and alerting systems
Qualification
Required
Experience in managing or implementing system health, performance monitoring, capacity planning, or process improvement and automation
Experience leading the architecture and design (architecture, design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and current systems, or experience leading and influencing your team or organization
4+ years of database administration experience, or Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, computer engineering, or equivalent
Experience debugging and systems analysis to identify and quickly resolve or mitigate issues
Experience in one or more of the following domains: access- control system and methodology, network security, application- and system-development security, security architecture and models, cryptography, and operations security
Experience with Cloud platforms (preferably AWS), database systems (SQL and NoSQL), AI tools for development productivity, contributing to open-source projects, and/or version control systems
Experience educating others on maintenance characteristics, runtime properties, and infrastructure of team systems
Preferred
Experience leading and influencing your team or organization, or experience as a mentor, tech lead or leading an engineering team
Experience in operational excellence, security compliance, and distributed systems resiliency
AWS Associate level certification, or AWS Professional level certification
Knowledge of AWS database migration software and technologies (DMS, SCT)
Experience with performance tuning and optimization of database systems
