They are seeking an experienced data visualization professional to develop an upper-level undergraduate laboratory course focused on applying advanced visualization techniques to environmental data.

Responsibilities

Ingest and clean realistic environmental datasets

Develop advanced visualizations such as heatmaps, 3D plots, and interactive dashboards

Apply best practices in data visualization to enhance clarity, meaning, and visual appeal

SMEs work closely with an academic dean and learning-experience designer to advise on and develop curricula, ensuring that course content is accurate, engaging, and aligned with program-level outcomes in environmental data science and engineering

Required

Master's degree or higher in a relevant field such as Data Science, Environmental Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, or Applied Statistics

Demonstrated expertise in data visualization and analysis using Python, including proficiency with libraries such as Matplotlib, Seaborn, Plotly, Dash, and Bokeh

Ability to explain technical concepts in clear, accessible, and engaging language for undergraduate learners in an online environment

Knowledge of data-cleaning and transformation workflows using tools such as Pandas and NumPy

Familiarity with principles of visual perception, color theory, and effective graphical communication

Understanding of ethical and sustainability considerations in data visualization (e.g., transparency, bias, representation)

Commitment to learner engagement, accessibility, and online teaching best practices

Strong organizational and time-management skills with the ability to meet deadlines

Enthusiasm for collaborative, creative work and the mission of Unity Environmental University to foster environmental responsibility through education

Preferred

Experience managing and visualizing environmental, ecological, or geospatial datasets preferred

Experience designing or evaluating interactive dashboards or storytelling visualizations (e.g., Tableau, Power BI, Plotly Dash) is desirable
