They are seeking a Staff-level Backend or Platform Engineer to design and manage core backend systems, ensuring high reliability and security standards while mentoring other engineers.

Responsibilities
Design, build, and scale backend and microservice systems used in clinical and operational workflows
Own authentication and authorisation services, including OAuth2, OIDC, JWT, SAML , and role-based access
Build distributed systems with high availability and clear recovery and failover strategies
Design and maintain stable, well-documented APIs using REST and, where relevant, gRPC
Set a high bar for engineering quality through testing, clean design, CI/CD , and sensible operational practices
Help define shared frameworks, platform patterns, and observability standards across teams
Act as a senior technical voice, mentoring engineers and working closely with product, security, and clinical stakeholders
Qualification
Required
10+ years building backend or distributed systems in production environments
Experience operating at staff or lead level, with responsibility beyond a single team
Strong Java and Spring Boot background and a solid understanding of microservice architecture
Proven experience scaling systems that handle high traffic and reliability requirements
Hands-on experience with AWS and cloud-native services
Practical experience with Docker, Kubernetes, and Terraform in production
Strong experience with relational and non-relational datastores such as Postgres, DynamoDB, and Redis
Comfortable making architectural decisions and raising engineering standards through example
Preferred
Experience in regulated or high-risk environments such as healthcare, MedTech, fintech, automotive, or identity platforms
Background in identity, authentication, or security-sensitive systems
Experience with event-driven systems or streaming technologies such as Kafka
Previous experience as a tech lead or cross-team technical contributor
Exposure to healthcare systems or compliance-driven software environments
