Responsibilities
Develop and maintain user guides, technical documentation, online source docs, libraries, templates, and documentation standards
Administer documentation standards and template management; ensure consistency and accessibility (e.g., Section 508)
Establish and operate version control procedures for documentation; prioritize requests and estimate effort
Educate teams on documentation processes, online publishing procedures, and versioning best practices
Manage documentation schedules; coordinate inputs from SMEs, engineers, QA, and product teams; conduct postproject reviews
Own documentation libraries and quality standards; perform editorial reviews; ensure accuracy, clarity, and completeness
Lead and mentor other writers; assign work, track progress, and enforce documentation workflows
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in Technical Communication, English, Information Systems, or related field (or equivalent experience)
3–5+ years' experience creating technical and user documentation in public sector or regulated environments
Experience with documentation standards, template management, and version control for docs (e.g., Git, SharePoint, Confluence)
Ability to prioritize documentation requests, estimate effort, and manage schedules
Proficiency with authoring/publishing tools (Word, Confluence, Markdown, Sphinx, DITA, Adobe, or similar)
Strong editorial skills: structure, clarity, audience targeting, and adherence to style guides
Collaboration and coordination across SMEs, engineering, QA, product, and training teams
Experience running quality reviews, scheduling content releases, and conducting retrospectives/post project reviews
Preferred
Certified Professional Technical Communicator (CPTC) or equivalent
PMIACP® or Agile related training for teams using Agile/hybrid delivery
