Research Specialist II (Gangwani Lab)

The role involves maintaining the laboratory’s mouse colony, conducting biochemical and molecular biology experiments, and assisting the Principal Investigator with advanced biomedical research studies.

Responsibilities
Manage the daily operations and research needs of a biomedical research laboratory
Maintain the laboratory’s mouse colony
Conduct independent biochemical and molecular biology experiments
Assist the Principal Investigator (PI) with advanced-level biomedical research studies
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience and at least 1 year of experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary
Preferred
Previous experience with managing mouse colony, including breeding, tagging/training and genotyping using PCR-based method
Experience with cell and tissue culture, including culture of primary neurons would be a plus
Experience with light (wide-field and confocal) and electron microscopy (EM)
Experience with preparation of mouse tissues for histochemical analysis, including experience with cutting tissue sections using cryostat and immunohistology staining of tissue sections
Protein analysis using western blot and mass spectroscopy
RNA-seq analysis
