Responsibilities
Provides professional business advising services to pre-venture, early stage and growth companies
Consults with clients throughout the service area of Montgomery County
Assists clients in analyzing business strengths and weaknesses and developing strategies for improvement
Assesses client’s management and technical education needs and recommends appropriate training classes
Provides comprehensive advising services in areas such as: financial modeling, financial analysis and budgeting, capital formation, marketing, market research, business plan development, strategic planning, human resources, and other business related areas
Initiates and maintains relationships with key stakeholders, to include Small Business Administration (SBA) and its resource partners, lenders, economic development organizations, Chambers of Commerce and other community partners
Focuses and assists targeted small businesses in accessing financing through a local capital partner as well as other funding sources for business expansion and growth
Markets to and works with clients to identify and match their capital needs with traditional and non-traditional sources
Develops and updates specialized training classes and materials for individual clients or groups
May conduct training seminars or presentations
Participates in public relations activities
Assists the director with a variety of administrative duties and responsibilities
Performs other related duties as assigned
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in business administration or closely related field
Four years relevant business experience, business/economic development, finance, small business consulting, business management, banking, and/or small business ownership or in a related field
Knowledge of local, state, and federal laws
Ability to supervise business functions
Communicates with other university departments, personnel, and other agencies
Preferred
Masters degree
Banking or public accounting experience
