Director, Center for Cancer Imaging Research

The Kinsey Institute is seeking a Director for the Center for Cancer Imaging Research at Indiana University School of Medicine. The role involves leading cancer imaging research, developing interdisciplinary programs, expanding collaborations, and enhancing the department's visibility and funding in cancer imaging.

Responsibilities

Build robust interdisciplinary Cancer Imaging Research programs spanning both basic and translational research, comprising of scientists, clinicians, and biomedical engineers, with a goal of establishing IU Radiology and Imaging Sciences at IUSM as a global leader in translational imaging for cancer research
Lead the overseeing/organizing of research by faculty both within and outside the department as it pertains to cancer imaging research
Expand the inter-departmental research collaborations for novel image-guided diagnostics and interventions in cancer research using model systems
Increase the Department’s visibility and impact in cancer imaging research through expanding extramural funding from sources including but not limited to NIH, DoD, ARPA and others, and promote publications in the highest impact journals
Collaborate closely with Simon Cancer Center to investigate new imaging technologies to help facilitate and expand the infrastructure for biomedical imaging research to advance cancer imaging research in the Department
Expand the portfolio of intellectual property in the space of cancer imaging
Initiate, support and expand investigator-initiated and industry-sponsored clinical trials centered around imaging-guided cancer research
Partner with commercial entities, both local and beyond, in jointly developing materials, methods, and tools targeting cancer; and foster incubators that are spun-off as new start-ups to enable commercialization of disruptive technologies to advance cancer care
Preferably have demonstrated experience in leading research teams and have excellent communication skills
