Technician II - Endpoint Services (Internal Applicants Only)

LEMIT - Bill Blackwood Law Enforcement Management Institute of Texas is seeking a Technician II in Endpoint Services. This role supports and maintains desktops, mobile devices, and peripherals, performing installation, diagnosing, repairing, and upgrading hardware to ensure optimal workstation performance.

Responsibilities

Installs, diagnoses, repairs, maintains, and upgrades hardware and equipment
Diagnoses and resolves level two escalated technical issues which includes working with end-users
Accurately documents all support activities and resolutions including categorization, prioritization, and troubleshooting steps
Coordinates and carry-outs physical moves of equipment
Coordinates and carry-out replacement of technology for computer replacement cycle
Helps maintain an inventory of workstations and related equipment
Supports development and implementation of modern technology projects and new hardware installations
Provides in-person, over-the-phone, email, and/or remote support
Performs all Endpoint Technician I duties
Performs other related duties as assigned

Required

Bachelor's degree in a related field
Two years of experience in a related field
Working technical knowledge of endpoint devices, current operating systems (including Windows, MacOS), network protocols, Microsoft 365, printers, basic audio/visual systems and e-mail applications
Must be a current Sam Houston State University employee in order to be considered for this position
Requires a working technical knowledge of managed and stand-alone computer applications
General understanding of Windows registry, file systems and networks
Ability to read and understand technical manuals and procedural documentation
Ability to conduct research into computer issues and products
Knowledge of advanced troubleshooting techniques and tools
Effective interpersonal skills and relationship-building skills
Good written and oral communication skills
Ability to present ideas and concepts in user-friendly language
Strong customer-service orientation
Ability to set priorities and procedures for accomplishing work based on previous experience and knowledge of organizational policies and procedures
Some knowledge of project management best practices
Some knowledge of Active Directory
May update and document Information Technology Systems Management (ITSM) Knowledge Articles
Recommends process modifications and improvements to increase efficiency
Provide technical training and guidance to team members
Participate in after-hours on-call rotation to ensure endpoint device operations
Some travel is required
Valid Texas driver's license and acceptable driving record is required by the University's insurance carrier
Must be able to lift up-to 50 pounds on a regular basis throughout a normal workday
Ability to gain and maintain Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) certification is required
