Electrical Engineer (Controls/Automation)
MS Companies is a high-volume copper rod mill that powers the U.S. wire & cable supply chain. They are seeking an Electrical Engineer (Controls/Automation) who will be responsible for troubleshooting and maintaining Siemens PLC systems on the plant floor, ensuring continuous production. The role offers autonomy, strong leadership support, and a clear path for career advancement.
Responsibilities
Spend 70%+ on the plant floor troubleshooting & maintaining Siemens-based control systems
Program, modify, and commission PLC/HMI logic to sustain 24/7 production
Lead sustaining fixes and capital projects (e.g., Fanuc robot reactivation)
Partner with maintenance techs and operators to resolve urgent issues
Document changes in SAP and update electrical drawings in AutoCAD
Flex past 5 PM as needed to support critical plant operations
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Engineering Technology (EET), Mechatronics, Automation Engineering, or closely related field
3+ years of Controls/Automation engineering in a manufacturing environment
Strong hands-on Siemens PLC programming & troubleshooting (TIA Portal priority)
Proven ability to work independently as the sole controls resource on-site
Comfortable in hot, industrial foundry conditions (copper rod production)
Must be authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship
Preferred
AutoCAD experience for schematics and panel design
Fanuc robotics exposure (project to get robots operational)
SAP or comparable ERP system knowledge
Power distribution experience
PMP certification
