Responsibilities
Design and deliver high-performance backend systems and scalable architectures that support real-time fleet operations and autonomy feedback loops
Lead technical execution for complex, multi-team projects, ensuring that our platforms are robust, maintainable, and aligned with Aurora’s long-term commercial goals
Develop and optimize high-throughput services, event-driven systems, and data pipelines capable of processing streams of data generated by our autonomous fleet
Collaborate closely with Product, Operations, Cloud Infrastructure, and Autonomy teams to translate product requirements into technical specifications and clear development roadmaps
Drive engineering excellence by establishing best practices for code quality, system design, and operational observability
Mentor and grow senior engineers, providing technical guidance and fostering a culture of rigorous problem-solving and continuous improvement
Qualification
Required
BS, MS, or PhD in Computer Science or equivalent practical experience
8+ years of experience building and operating large-scale backend or distributed systems
Deep expertise in distributed systems design, API design, scalable service architecture, and data modeling
Proven experience owning system architecture end-to-end, making strategic technical decisions, and driving multi-team engineering initiatives
Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to partner effectively across engineering and operational domains
Proficiency with Golang, cloud infrastructure, and operational tooling (e.g., AWS, Kubernetes, CI/CD, observability stacks)
Preferred
Experience leading multi-team architectural initiatives and defining long-term technical roadmaps
Knowledge of autonomous vehicles, robotics, fleet systems, or large-scale real-time data processing
Experience with integrating third-party APIs, external data sources, or partner ecosystems
