Reliability Engineer - Offshore Wind O&M (Engineer/Senior/Staff) (NORFOLK, VA)

They are seeking a highly motivated Reliability Engineer to join the Coastal Virginia Offshore Wind Operations and Maintenance team, focusing on proactive reliability solutions and long-term asset reliability. This role involves performing reliability analysis, developing maintenance strategies, and leading project initiatives.

Responsibilities

Perform reliability modeling and analysis (e.g. Weibull analysis, failure mode and effect analysis (FMEA) and criticality evaluation) to assess and improve system performance
Develop and optimize maintenance strategies, including condition-based and predictive maintenance programs, to maximize equipment uptime
Monitor and report on key reliability metrics such as MTBF (Mean Time Between Failure) and MTTR (Mean Time to Repair) to identify improvement opportunities
Lead initiation, planning, and execution of major overhauls or improvement initiatives
Participate in the design and engineering of new systems to ensure reliability principles are incorporated into the development process
Perform in-depth root cause analysis on failures and lead cross-functional teams to implement corrective and preventative actions
Perform critical spare parts assessment to determine optimal inventory levels
Conduct risk assessments and failure mode and effect analysis (FMEA) to identify potential risks and develop mitigation strategies
Drive identification and execution of continuous improvement initiatives
Support troubleshooting efforts by diagnosing on-site equipment issues, analyzing historical operational data, and documenting failure modes
Provide guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and cross-functional teams on reliability principles and best practices

Required

2+ years engineering experience for Engineer position
5+ years engineering experience for Senior Engineer position
8+ years engineering experience for Staff Engineer position
Full knowledge and application of engineering theories and principles, concepts and fundamentals
Full knowledge of predictive maintenance tools (e.g. vibrational analysis, IR thermography, and oil analysis)
Skilled in use of advanced techniques and modification and extension of theories, precepts and practices of the field and related sciences and disciplines
Strong leadership skills with proven ability to serve as team project lead
Strong oral and written communication skills (includes technical writing)
Experience with CMMS (e.g. SAP, Maximo, etc.)
Strong personal computer skills
Ability to think analytically and solve complex problems
Ability to interpret codes, regulations and practices
In depth knowledge of various computer applications, with the ability to manipulate personal computer applications and perform engineering calculations using applicable software programs (e.g. Matlab, Excel, etc.)
Equally effective working independently or in team environment
Proven decision making skills
Ability to process information quickly and effectively manage multiple tasks
Strong planning, organizational and project management skills
Ability to climb to heights up to 250 feet or greater and work in confined spaces
Must meet body weight restrictions of 265 lbs or less as required by safety regulations
Must pass a physical administered by a medical practitioner to ensure ability to safely perform the job functions and meet the physical demands of the position
Possess a 4-year Engineering degree from an ABET accredited Engineering program
Possess a 4-year Engineering degree from an institution outside of the U.S. which is accredited through the country's own Engineering accrediting body under the Washington Accord
Possess a 4-year degree in Engineering (non-ABET accredited), Physics, Chemistry, Math or Engineering Technology and a post-graduate Engineering degree from an institution where the undergraduate degree in the same Engineering discipline is ABET-accredited
Holds or has previously held a valid U.S. Professional Engineer license
Bachelor's in Engineering

Certified Maintenance and Reliability Professional (CMRP)
Certified Reliability Leader (CRL)
Vibration Analysis ISO Category I
GWO BST (Global Wind Organization Basic Safety Training)
