Graduate Employee - Teaching and Learning Center - Research Assistant

LEMIT - Bill Blackwood Law Enforcement Management Institute of Texas is seeking a Graduate Research Assistant to support the Associate Director of Assessment in evaluating Teaching & Learning Center programs. The role involves data collection, entry, and analysis to assess the effectiveness of educational initiatives, along with general office support tasks.

Responsibilities

Support program assessment efforts by entering, cleaning, and organizing data from TLC programs using Microsoft Excel, or other institutional tools
Assist in compiling data reports, summaries, and visualizations for internal use and assessment purposes
Help manage records and data related to event participation, feedback surveys, and workshop outcomes
Perform general office tasks such as photocopying, filing, and preparing documents, forms, or correspondence
Occasionally greet and assist visitors or callers in a friendly, professional manner and refer them to appropriate resources as needed
Collaborate with TLC staff on special projects and initiatives, including administrative tasks such as tracking submissions, managing applications, and supporting communication efforts
Perform other duties as assigned

Required

Must be a currently enrolled graduate student in good academic standing (minimum 3.0 GPA)
Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including: Excel (data entry, sorting/filtering, basic formulas, formatting), Word (document creation and formatting), Outlook (professional email communication and calendar management), PowerPoint (basic presentation creation and editing)
Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in data entry and documentation
Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion
Strong organizational and time management skills; ability to work independently and meet deadlines
Professional communication skills, both written and verbal
Dependability, punctuality, and ability to work collaboratively with staff and other student employees
Ability to troubleshoot and resolve issues independently
Willingness to learn and adapt (growth mindset)
Effective critical thinking and problem-solving skills
Proactive attitude with the ability to identify and address issues without being prompted
